Boo! More pinbacks.

Waddado, everybody?

Still working my way through all those Disney/Pixar storybooks I bought last month.  Yesterday I made some pins featuring Boo, from Monsters Inc.

I've always loved Boo's little monster costume that Sully makes for her at the beginning of the movie.   It's just so cute. :D

(Psst, here's the link to the Etsy listing, if you're interested: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=42092243)

I haven't posted anything for almost a week!  Been busy doing all sorts of crazy stuff.

Anyone else excited about the Oscars tomorrow?  My family and I will be making our customary chicken wings/celery and carrot sticks/blue cheese sauce dinner and plop ourselves down in front of the computer for who knows how many hours.   I think later on today I might make a post about my Oscar predictions.

'Ta for now.

Wow, this is my first post not writing "Thing a Day" in my title.  Well, like I said yesterday, I plan to continue my craft making/selling/posting, etc.

Made this on a whim as the sun was setting at the suggestion of my mother.  It came out really cute.

FUN FACT:  The name of the little seahorse at the beginning and end of Finding Nemo really IS named Sheldon.  I wiki'd it!

Makes me think of The Big Bang Theory - which is back new tonight, with a guest spot by STAN LEE, creator of some of the most popular comics of all time, and a downright badass man.  I highly suggest watching it.  It'll be on tonight, 9:30/8:30 Central!

Chuck is also on tonight.  I guess Monday is Dork Day!  Castle is USUALLY on as well, but it's return from the Olympics break is being postponed a week for the finale of The Bachelor.  Ugh, I don't understand that show.

Reeling myself back in to the original topic...I've listed this little Sheldon pin in my Etsy shop.  Here's the link to the listing, if anyone's interested: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41781629

Have a good night, everyone!

Waddado, everybody?

The final day of TAD has come.  I'll be sad to see it end, as I've really enjoyed doing this, but I hope to keep making things, more often than I have previously, and continue to post about them here on Posterous. :)

To close my adventures in TAD, I had planned to do something exciting.  Something very original and different from whatever else I've made this month.

Instead, I spent the day doing other things, it started to get dark, and I had to whip out some more Nemo pins real quick before I lost all my light. :P

I made five all-in-all - including one very special one that I gave to my mother.  (That's the last picture.)

I think I might have to keep the Dory one and the seahorse one to add to the slowly growing collection on my camera strap. :P

To all of you here on "taddy", as my mother calls it, thanks for looking and commenting on my posts through the month, and thanks in turn for posting such interesting things yourselves.

Hope everyone has a good night!

Waddado, everybody?

Here I am, on the penultimate post of Thing a Day.  I don't know what I'll do once I don't have to think about making something every day!

Tonight I'm feeling rather exhausted.  Which I believe can be mostly attributed to the fact that I was up until nearly 3 AM last night drawing.  (This, actually: http://esperezekiel.deviantart.com/art/Hero-Heroine-155593532) So, if I seem a little detached tonight, I blame that. :P

OKAYYY, so, my parents and I were out shopping for basically the entire day, so I didn't get a chance to make anything at home.  Instead, I got to take some pictures.

The last shot is special.  It's one of several pictures I shot from the hip, without looking through, or being anywhere near, the viewfinder.  All of the other pictures are just taken regularly, though. :)

Hope everyone had a great Saturday!

Today's soundtrack: Several "Genius Playlists" created using my iPhone, including mixes based off the songs "One Red Thread", "Hero/Heroine", and "You're Crashing, But You're No Wave".

Waddado, everybody?

I once again found the day slipping away from me, so I whipped together this set of Jungle Book pins before the sun went down.  I'm very pleased with how they came out; they certainly make me smile, and I hope that they make you smile, too. :)  If you'd like to pin these buddies on something of your own, I did list them in my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41567325

I feel this is a suitable Thing to do today, as yesterday I showed off my new inspiration piece, a framed picture of Walt Disney to hang over my computer table, and The Jungle Book was the last film Walt ever got to work on.

On a cheerier note, and for nostalgia's sake...Anyone who's ever seen Singin' In The Rain will obviously remember the amazing number by Donald O'Connor that is the namesake of today's post.  So, here to add a little fun to your night...

On that note, I will end.

Today's soundtrack:  Boys Like Girls' album "Boys Like Girls", Fall Out Boy's song "You're Crashing, But You're No Wave", and the original cast recording of "Crazy For You".  Oh, and this:

I'm video heavy tonight, aren't I?  Haha!

Waddado, everybody?

Man, I don't know where this day went.  I barely got today's thing done before the sun went down!

This is actually a two-part project.  A few days ago - the first day of Cars magnets, I believe - I made the whiteboard.  I just made the magnets this afternoon.  I'm quite happy with how the entire package came out.  I myself have a mini whiteboard on our fridge and I'm constantly writing all sorts of nonsense on it.  I'm selling this one in my Etsy shop, (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41495948 if anyone's interested,) and I hope it goes to a home where it will be as well-loved as mine is. :)

As a bonus for today...We got a package in the mail today, from our good friend Stacy, (who I believe goes by stacysdesigns88 here in the Wonderful World of Posterous,) and one of the many lovely trinkets inside was (what I believe to be) a short article from LIFE magazine.

Inside was this beautiful picture of Walt Disney, who is one of my idols and a huge inspiration to me.  It was such a lovely picture of him that my mother and I rooted around for who knows how long until we found our one lone frame, and...voila. :D  Special thanks goes out to Stacy, for sending it to us.

Today's soundtrack: Fall Out Boy: Infinity On High, as well as various artists while shuffling my music.

Waddado, Everybody?

Today's gone by really fast.  After waking up early this morning I thought it would be a long one, but here I am, at 5 PM, and I have no idea where the time went.

This morning I worked my way through a Jungle Book storybook, but, although I got a lot out of it, I didn't actually follow through with making anything from it.  That will probably be for tomorrow.

INSTEAD I got distracted making some pins to wear proudly on my camera strap.  By now, you've probably figured out that I have quite the fancy camera.  My brother gave me a Canon Rebel for my birthday last year, and I've been carting it almost everywhere with me since.  For a long time, I had an oversized "Nightmare Before Christmas" pin on the strap, but today I realized I could make some of my own, and promptly traded out the big one for three little ones.

Eventually, I'll probably make some for the other side of the strap, too, but for now, I'm very content with these three, and I'm sure they'll really brighten up my strap. :)

Today's soundtrack: Michael Jackson Station on my Pandora, once again.  You haven't lived until you get to groove out to Prince's "Kiss" while rolling around in a desk chair. ;D

Thing a Day, 02.23: In Which I Go Overboard

Waddado, everybody?

I'm not sure what it was about today - maybe it was the fact that it was snowy, (Snowy? In Austin, Texas?!  I know, right?) or maybe I was just in a good mood, but I got a lot of stuff done today.

Still working through the pile of storybooks I bought at the thrift store over the weekend.

TODAY, it was The Emperor's New Groove.  And of course, it just wouldn't be The Emperor's New Groove without Yzma and Kronk, the slightly evil, mostly dysfunctional dastardly duo.  Here are three that I just couldn't give up, and had to keep for myself.  They're now magnets on my fridge.

ASIDE FROM THOSE THREE, I also made a set of seven to sell in my Etsy shop, which you can see here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41343632

AND THEN I made another set of Cars flat magnets, since those seemed very popular yesterday.  Those were also listed in my Etsy shop, if anyone's interested: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41341531

IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, mom and I made pretzels this morning.  That's today's bonus picture. ;D

THEN TO TOP IT ALL OFF, I have one more act of self-promoting to fulfill today:

You'll have to turn it up loud.  We recorded it with my mother's iPhone, and that doesn't have the best mic in the world.

And now I'll leave you alone before you explode from TOO MUCH CREATIVITY INTAKE.

Today's soundtrack: The Swell Season - Once Soundtrack/Wicked - Original Cast Recording

Thing a Day, 02.22: My Lucky Day

(download)

Waddado, everybody?

Today is my lucky day because it's 2/22, and 222 is one of my lucky numbers. :)

BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, it was also lucky because I got to make these awesome magnets.

If you follow my posts, you'll know that last weekend, (by which I mean, the weekend that did not just end,) I found a Finding Nemo storybook at the thrift store, and have been using the illustrations in various ways since.  Over this weekend, (by which I mean yesterday and the day before,) I went back to the thrift store and, with the help of my mother, found even more good Pixar books, as well as some Disney ones, to tear apart and milk for illustrations.

Today my project was Cars, which is one of my favorite Pixar movies, despite its rather mild reputation.  Although I didn't get quite as many useable things out of it as the Nemo one, I still got a LOT, and here are just a few.

I've also listed these in my Etsy shop.  Here's the listing: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41267871 if you're interested in buying them. :)

Today's soundtrack: Michael Jackson station on Pandora Radio.

Waddado, everybody?

Today was the first really nice, warm day in, (and I'm being serious here,) a month.  It feels like all of 2010 so far has been wet, rainy, and dreary, but hopefully that's finally subsiding for a while.

To celebrate the return of the sunshine and blue skies, my parents and I went on an impromptu walk around Ladybird Lake, which, apparently, (I just asked my father the name of it and he gave me a history lesson,) is a dammed-off part of the Colorado River, in Austin, Texas, where we live.

Even though we hadn't originally planned on it when we first left the house, I was smart enough, (or, perhaps, obsessive enough,) to bring my camera with me, and was lucky to get some great shots.  Here are my favorites, for all to enjoy.  I'd say the last one is my absolute favorite.

Today's soundtrack artists: The White Tie Affair, Fall Out Boy, K.T. Tunstall, Death Cab for Cutie, and others I can't remember.
